The UFC is returning to the UK in March 2025.

Dana White’s promotion announced on Tuesday that it would be making a return to The O2 Arena in London on Saturday, March 22.

Leon Edwards dropped the welterweight belt to Belal Muhammad in his last outing

Fans were kept up late the last time UFC visited the UK, as Leon Edwards dropped his welterweight title to Belal Muhammad in Manchester.

Edwards put his belt on the line in the early hours of the morning at Manchester’s Co-op Live arena before losing out via unanimous-decision.

Tom Aspinall and Paddy Pimblett both picked up wins on that night in Manchester, as they were victorious over Curtis Blaydes and King Green respectively.

Molly McCann also fought earlier on the same card, but she was upset by Bruna Brasil in the women’s strawweight division, losing after three rounds by unanimous decision.

Birmingham’s Edwards defended his welterweight title for the first time in London’s O2 Arena in March 2022 against Kamaru Usman, who he knocked out with a devastating head kick seven months prior to win the belt.

He shared UFC on TNT Sports‘ announcement post on X with an eyes emoji after it stated: “Who do you want to see on the card?”, teasing a return to the octagon for the event.

Edwards hasn’t been seen in the octagon since his July defeat to Muhammad in what was his fourth welterweight title bout, after also defending the belt against Colby Covington.

No.10 ranked lightweight Renato Moicano responded to the London card announcement too.

He said: “UFC London Main event!? Moicano vs [Paddy] Pimblett!? What do you guys think?!”

Brazil’s Moicano called out Liverpool‘s Pimblett after beating up Benoit Saint Denis at a UFC Fight Night Paris event in September.

Pimblett, who is ranked four places below him, responded to the 35-year-old’s comments with an Instagram post that tagged Moicano and stated: “Let’s do this”.

The Brazilian also shared a post on X that questioned who should be on the main event card when the UFC returns to London.

Ireland’s Ian Garry and America’s Joaquin Buckley were mentioned as potential opponents for Edwards, while Ipswich’s Arnold Allen was discussed alongside Manchester’s Lerone Murphy.

UFC 309 takes place this weekend as Jon Jones defends his heavyweight strap against Stipe Miocic, with Britain’s Aspinall the official backup fighter.

The event at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden also has the returning Michael Chandler facing off against Charles Oliveira in a five-round co-main event.
