Lille vs Real Madrid predictions
Real Madrid were pushed all the way by Stuttgart on matchday one of the Champions League.
The Germany outfit created plenty of opportunities at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and had the score level at 1-1 until the 83rd minute.
Not for the first time, Madrid came on strong late on to win the match. Antonio Rudiger put them 2-1 up, before Endrick struck on the counter-attack to give the Blancos a 3-1 victory.
Madrid did not play badly in that encounter, but they retain a useful knack for being able to win games even when they are not at their best.
We have seen that countless times in the Champions League in recent years. Indeed, it is one of the reasons why Madrid have been so successful in this competition.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team made a shaky start to the season, drawing two of their first three La Liga encounters as their manager bemoaned a lack of “balance”.
Madrid have picked up since then, winning five of their last six outings in all competitions. The exception was a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Sunday, as Angel Correa denied Madrid all three points with a last-gasp equaliser.
It was a tempestuous game at the Civitias Metropolitano, with the referee forced to halt proceedings after Atletico fans threw objects at Thibaut Courtois.
Yet although they were disappointed to concede so late in the game, Madrid probably would have settled for a point had they been offered it before kick-off, not least because Barcelona were beaten by Osasuna a day earlier.
There is still room for improvement as far as their all-round performances are concerned, but it is still early in the campaign and Ancelotti will be pleased that his side are still picking up wins.
The manager made some interesting comments last month when it was put to him that Madrid have not yet found an identity this term.
“The most striking thing is that Real Madrid, in these years, has not had a single identity,” he said. “Low blocks, transitions, possession… everything. The fact that we don’t have a clear identity makes us think that we don’t have ‘a game’. And it is true. We have many.”

Lille vs Real Madrid betting tips
Real Madrid should prove too strong for Lille when the duo go head-to-head in the Champions League.
Real Madrid to win and both teams to score
Lille qualified for the Champions League with a fourth-place finish in Ligue 1 last term, but they then lost manager Paulo Fonseca to AC Milan.
Bruno Genesio was chosen as his replacement and Lille have made a decent start to the current campaign under the former Rennes head coach. A 3-0 victory over Le Havre at the weekend saw them rise up to fifth in the standings.

However, Lille lost 2-0 to Sporting CP on matchday one and they will struggle to avoid defeat by Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Even with Kylian Mbappe set to begin the match on the bench, Madrid have enough quality to get the job done.
However, it is worth tipping Lille to score after Jonathan David’s hat-trick against Le Havre last time out.
Back Real Madrid to win and both teams to score at 9/4 with Sky Bet
Over 2.5 goals
Mbappe has recovered from a muscular problem quicker than expected, but he is unlikely to be risked from the start at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
Still, Real Madrid are not exactly short of options – after all, they won the Champions League without Mbappe last season.
The 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Sunday was a cagey affair, but Madrid’s other recent games have been anything but.
Three of their last four encounters in all competitions have featured over 2.5 goals, including that 3-1 triumph over Stuttgart on matchday one.
Meanwhile three of Lille’s last four Ligue 1 outings have also contained three goals or more.
This is a complementary bet for our first selection. If we are correct that Lille will score but Madrid will win, this game is guaranteed to feature over 2.5 goals.
Tip over 2.5 goals at 4/6 with Sky Bet
Jude Bellingham to score or assist
Jude Bellingham is slowly getting back to his best after an injury disrupted his start to the season.
The introduction to the team of Mbappe also saw Bellingham moved deeper in Real Madrid’s formation, and thus further away from the opposition goal.
But with the France international unlikely to feature until the second half on Wednesday (if at all), Bellingham will have the chance to be involved in more advanced areas.
He is likely to make the most of that opportunity. Bellingham was at the heart of everything good Madrid did in the first half of last season and he will be keen to play a direct role in at least one goal in this one.
Tip Jude Bellingham to score or assist at 4/6 with Sky Bet
