Liverpool will be looking to get back to winning ways in Saturday’s FA Cup third round tie after falling to just their second defeat of the entire season as they were beaten 1-0 by Tottenham in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi final on Wednesday night.
Arne Slot’s side have now gone back to back games without a victory for the first time since the Dutchman took over from Jurgen Klopp as manager in the summer, having also been held to a 2-2 draw by Manchester United in their last league game on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds still hold a very comfortable place at the top of the Premier League table though, currently finding themselves six points clear of second placed Arsenal having also played a game fewer.
The Merseyside club will also be returning to Anfield this weekend, where they haven’t lost any of their last 12 matches, winning 10 in that run.
Liverpool are the FA Cup’s joint third most successful club and will be looking to lift the trophy for the ninth time in their history after winning their eighth back in 2022.

Accrington prepare for one of the biggest days in the football club’s history this weekend having recently ended a seven game winless run in League Two by winning their last two matches in preparation for their short trip to Anfield.
John Doolan’s side have won two out of two since the turn of the year, beating Grimsby and Colchester to climb up to 19th in the League Two table, which has given them a five point cushion between themselves and the relegation zone.
Stanley make the daunting trip to Anfield having won just one of their last five matches away from home, though that victory did come in their most recent outing in Essex.
Saturday’s game will be the first ever competitive meeting between the two sides, though Liverpool did beat a different Accrington Stanley side in the 1956 FA Cup, though that club went into liquidation 10 years later and were eventually replaced by the current club.
