Liverpool have now gone unbeaten in 24 straight games in the Premier League since losing 1-0 to Nottingham Forest back in the fourth gameweek of the 2024/25 season.

Liverpool have drawn seven and won the rest of the games in that time along with an impressive top placed finish in the Champions League’s first season with the new format.

Newcastle have been a lot harder to predict but have won enough to keep them in contention for a top four finish.

However, they sit in sixth now with three losses in their last five league games.

The Magpies can cause problems for top clubs but can also not deliver in games they should be winning.

They lost to Fulham 2-1 at the start of this month, before winning 2-0 over Arsenal in the semi-final of the EFL Cup.

Three days later they just won 3-2 over Birmingham before being thrashed 4-0 by Man City.

Then on Sunday afternoon they faced Nottingham Forest in an end-to-end game.

Forest took the early lead but Newcastle not only found a response but scored four first half goals to eventually seal the game though it did go close as the visitors fought back to 4-3 in the 90th minute.

And that ability to keep conceding and not seeing out games should be their downfall against a team like Liverpool, who will not relent.

Liverpool are 11 points ahead of Arsenal going into this game – with as many as 64 goals scored in just 27 games played.

They’ve also only conceded 26 which just further shows how much they’ve dominated this season.

Newcastle may struggle, as they are a team to not only score plenty but also concede a fair few as well, especially recently.

Alexander Isak continues to find the back of the net but so do Liverpool, including Mo Salah who’s in Balon D’Or winning form.

With each added point from Liverpool it further confirms their ability to win the league early on and it should be no different at home to Newcastle.

Especially as the Magpies struggle against the Reds as they are winless in their last 28, losing as many as 23 of those and drawing only five.
