Logan Paul has taken a beating on social media from wrestling fans following a statement the star made about the state of WWE.

The influencer and boxer turned wrestler is currently on an extended hiatus of sorts from WWE, having not featured since losing his United States Championship at SummerSlam in August.

In his home city of Ohio, Paul was unseated by popular SmackDown rival LA Knight, ending his lengthy US title reign and giving Knight his first main roster gold in WWE.

After a string of high profile matches and rivalries – though admittedly few title defences – the defeat halted the 29-year-old’s stretch in wrestling, where he has excelled since making his debut in 2022.

He has spent the last couple of months away from the squared circle staying busy with a number of business ventures; his YouTube channel remains active, and he has launched a new snack brand in collaboration with KSI and Mr Beast.

Personally, Paul has welcomed a new arrival with partner Nina Agdal, the entrepreneur announcing at the end of last month that daughter Esme had ‘entered the chat.’

Despite his many spinning plates, Paul has clearly kept his eye on what’s been happening in WWE during his absence – and is impressed.

Posting on X, he posted in praise: “WWE is so good right now.”

Whether or not he expected the customary barrage of abuse that comes his way as an on-screen bad guy isn’t known, but the star opted to turn off replies to the post – not that it stopped fans giving their reactions and opinions in spades.

While plenty echoed the star’s thoughts as to the current quality of WWE’s product, a greater number used the post as an opportunity to stick the boot into him, insisting it is his absence which is helping.

“It’s got even better since you disappeared,” read one crunching response, while another said: “No duh because you’re finally gone from SmackDown. Life’s good!”

A third chimed in that the product was excelling: “[now] that you ain’t US Champion anymore. Thank you LA Knight!”

Playing into the pantomime of WWE, another reply said “[It’s so good] especially since LA Knight whooped your a** and sent you packing!

The outbursts, some of which were stronger, seem at odds with the fact that Paul’s work is generally very well received in WWE, having quickly acclimatised to the all-round demands of being athletically sound and able to play the role of a character.

One reply seemingly agreed as much, saying: “Took some time off for his newborn now it’s time to get back in the ring for that full time 2025 push!!”

The star – who has polarized opinion since his arrival – has vowed that he’ll be making big waves in WWE next year, having told Head of Creative Paul Levesque that he wants to be ‘the guy’ in the company.

Speaking on The Undertaker’s podcast, he said: “I try to say this humbly, but also not, I did look in the mirror and looked at my craft and thought: ‘I think I can do this if I can actually devote my time to it.’

“So, I did have the conversation with Triple H, I said: ‘Hey, I want to be the guy, what do I have to do to be the guy?’

“I’m going to start making that run next year in 2025…”
