Lugazi edge Police to keep survival hopes alive

Lugazi FC made a perfect start to the second round of the 2024/25 season, overcoming Police FC on Wednesday.

In the game played at Lugazi Stadium in Najjembe, the Leaders secured a 1-0 win over the Cops courtesy of Abdul Kalanzi’s strike from the spot.

Police FC had the first chance at goal in the 4th minute but Gerald Ogwet’s effort was parried away by goalkeeper Juma Mutebi.

On the other end, Lugazi’s first attempt fell to Freedom Mungudit but his strike was tamed by goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga.

The decisive moment arrived in the 68th minute when the home side were awarded a penalty and Kalanzi was able to convert.

The result moves Lugazi FC to 12th place on 17 points, four above the drop zone.

Police FC on the other hand remain tenth on the table with 18 points from 16 games.
