Lugazi Football Club beefs up squad prior to second round of 2024-2025 UPL season

Lugazi Football Club is a on mission possible to reinforce their team squad ahead of the second round for the 2024-2025 StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

Christened as “The Leaders”, Lugazi has signed a couple of new players and extended the employment contracts for others.

Abdul Kalanzi and Alvin Twiine Birungi extended their contracts for five years until 2030.

New recruits:

Among the new signings include midfielder Hussein Ssenoga, defender Joseph Othieno, forward Shafiq Avemah and South Sudanese U-20 international Norman Eluzai Lumumba (midfielder)

Ssenoga was signed for one-year duration from Buganda regional entity Free Stars Football Club.

Avemah has been attached to Police Football Club in the Uganda Premier League.

Othieno penned a three-year deal from Moso Sugar football club.

The league debutants completed the first half of the season with 14 points on the fringe of relegation, two points better than Wakiso Giants (12), four and five points better than Soltilo Bright Stars and Mbale Heroes respectively.

Lugazi’s first five matches of second round:

Lugazi Football Club’s first five games in the second round have three home duels and two away engagements.

Steven Bogere’s coached side will commence the second round at their Lugazi stadium (Najjembe) home yard against Police on 12th February 2025.

On 16th February 2025, they will again host Wakiso Giants before visiting NEC on 1st March 2025 at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

Match day 19 shall witness Lugazi’s home duel against Express before traveling to Mbale in the East on match day 20 to face Mbale Heroes.
