Manchester City or Chelsea will get their hands on a stunning trophy if they win this year’s Club World Cup.

The once annual tournament will be played in its revamped format for the first time this summer in the United States.

City and Chelsea are the two Premier League representatives thanks to their Champions League wins in 2023 and 2021, respectively.

And should they go all the way, they will be crowned champions of the world and lift a impressive gold trophy.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino attended the White House to present the prize to US president Donald Trump.

Crafted in collaboration with luxury jewellers Tiffany & Co., it’s built with gold vermeil and has laser-engraved images of football culture.

In addition, 13 languages and Braille are inscribed on the trophy that can twist its rings into a spherical shape by turning a golden key.

Infantino demonstrated the mechanism to Trump, and called it: “A trophy of the future.”

The Club World Cup used to feature the six continental competition winners and the host country’s league champions.

However, it has now been expanded to a 32-team tournament with a total prize fund worth $1billion [£775million].

“The FIFA Club World Cup will not only be the pinnacle of club football, but also a vivid demonstration of solidarity that will benefit clubs at large to a scale that no other competition has ever done,” said Infantino.

“All revenue generated by the tournament will be distributed to the participating clubs and via club solidarity across the world as FIFA will not keep a single dollar.

“FIFA’s reserves, which are there for global football development, will remain untouched.”

Despite the huge amount of money on offer, the expansion of the Club World Cup has drawn criticism.

The increase in games has raised concerns over player welfare as most clubs already compete in various competitions during a season.

There will be eight groups of four teams, with those sides finishing in the top two advancing to the knockout stages.

UEFA have 12 teams participating alongside six from CONMEBOL, four from AFC, four from CAF, four from CONCACAF and one from OFC.

Inter Miami have been given the host entry having won the 2024 MLS Supporters’ Shield.
