Manchester United may have to put Marcus Rashford on loan again as he is willing to hold out for his dream move to Barcelona, talkSPORT understands.

United ideally want to sell Rashford for £40million after manager Ruben Amorim made it clear he does not want him to return to Old Trafford.

However, knowing Rashford is pushing to join them and that the Red Devils are desperate to get his £350,000-a-week wages off the payroll, Barca are more likely to try and push through a loan.

Rashford’s advisers have held talks with Barca sporting director Deco.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a bright second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa as he made ten goal contributions in 17 appearances across all competitions.

However, he missed the final four games of the Premier League season with a hamstring injury.

Villa secured Rashford’s services after they struck a deal to cover 75 per cent of the forward’s salary, which is in excess of £350,000.

Prior to joining Villa, Rashford had not featured in any of United’s last 12 games.

It didn’t take long for Rashford to remind fans of his talent as he found an instant connection with Marco Asensio, who also joined Villa on loan in January.

Rashford’s best display in claret and blue arguably came in the second leg of Villa’s Champions League quarter-final tie against Paris Saint-Germain.

He assisted Ezri Konsa’s goal that left the English club one goal away from levelling the tie.

Rashford came agonisingly close to getting on the scoresheet as well, but a stunning fingertip save from PSG gloveman Gianluigi Donnarumma denied his curling effort.
