Maroons FC claimed maximum points off Soltilo Brights Stars FC as the two teams faced off at Kavumba Recreation Centre on Friday.

The cagey and evenly contested game saw Fredrick Nicholas Kigozi score the lone goal of the game.

The all important goal for the Prison Warders arrived in the 70th minute and they eventually saw out the game, defending resiliently.

At the start of the game, Maroons’ Rogers Kiwanuka had the ball into the back of the net but his strike was ruled off for offside.

On the other end, goalkeeper Simon Tamale made a fine save to deny Ashiraf Mulindi in the 19th minute.

Thereafter, the game was like a sea-saw but either side failed to find the sharpness in the final third until the 70th minute when Kigozi fired Maroons into the lead.

The result takes Maroons FC up to sixth place on 12 points while Soltilo Brights remain third from bottom on 6 points.
