Monday horse racing tips

  • WINCANTON
    1.15: Off To A Flyer 11/4 (1.5pts)
    2.45: So Said I 11/4 (1pt)
  • NEWCASTLE
    4.00: Coniston George 2/1 (1pt)

Off To A Flyer

Jackpot D’Athou has been disappointing since winning at Taunton in February last year.

Losing on each of his five starts since including pulling up on his chase debut two weeks ago at Uttoxeter.

He’s on a much reduced mark now but there’s not really been anything to show of late that suggests that will see him bounce back.

But the same could have been said about Off To A Flyer who was on a poor run but bolted up on return to hurdles.

He’s still on a dangerous mark as he was rated 7lb higher on his previous hurdle run – so there’s definite value for him despite drifting.

So Said I

Only a matter of time before the grey mare So Said I can win again.

She plugged on extremely well at Cheltenham earlier this season but does seem to thrive over 2m5f rather than this extended trip, when looking at fences.

The mare has won just once chasing from 12 attempts and clearly has the better form over hurdles when facing these 3m contests.

That gives the favourite Minniemum more scope to make all after winning on chase debut just last week.

That was a wide margin success so should cope with being raised 7lb.

She was favourite despite having only won once over hurdles in 16 attempts so there is still a fair bit of risk attached.

Looking at who she beat too doesn’t exactly encourage me to side with this mare at such a short price, but instead hope that the grey can press on.

Coniston George

Coniston George looks tough to beat in this one as the seven-year-old gelding has shown great signs of improvement and form this season.

Placing well in various hurdle contests before winning with the first-time visor earlier this month.

Upped 7lb but if he can keep progressing with the equipment clearly making a difference and at this distance then he should be the one to beat.
