Monday horse racing tips

  • WINCANTON
    2.30: Larchmont Lass 6/4* (1pt)
    3.00: Shengai Enki 15/8*
    3.30: Zaochen Enki 10/11* (1.5pts)
    4.30: Jaramillo 10/3 (1pt)
    *Treble – 12/1 (1pt)

Larchmont Lass

Briefly stepped up in trip over course and distance last time out in February but couldn’t make the most of 10lb claimer Chad Bament.

Despite that she was raised 6lb, potentially for running on well in the closing stages having previously looked out of it.

As a result she’s essentially facing a 16lb rise with Sam Twiston-Davies on board and with this 3m trip, Larchmont Lass might be the one to side with.

She’s won at Wincanton before and though she doesn’t have great form over 3m this will certainly be her chance to win still at a solid mark after winning here in November.

Shengai Enki

Mr Mackay’s losing run is now at 12 races since winning at Huntingdon in a maiden contest over 2m4f.

Shengai Enki has seen a bit of money this morning from 9/4 into around 15/8.

This gelding won well two starts ago and then looked to cope with the rise in weight when placing a close third.

May miss the 5lb claim from Luke Scott but remains a strong contender against these rivals.

Zaochen Enki

Wears a hood for his first start over hurdles in Britain in a small field where he receives 10lb from Disguised Limit.

That horse was only seen 14 days ago when placing third behind Fasol and High Fibre.

He’s at a dangerous weight now given that performance but he was beaten comfortably to suggest he needs more improvement.

I can’t see past the four-year-old looking to make the most of his weight allowance in a fairly weak maiden contest where he could be much better for a top yard on debut.

Jaramillo

Encouraging first start over fences back in December behind Theformismighty and should be in solid form to make all here.

Will have to do so with a fairly small strike-rate over hurdles while also facing Somespring Special, a mare who arrives here off the back of a 239 days off for an in-form trainer.

That said, the Owners Group horse is well-weighted and could be dangerous on just his second start over fences.
