Olympic pole vaulting star Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis has revealed how anxious he was to ask for Desire Inglander’s hand in marriage.
The Swedish-American has been in excellent form in 2024 having won three gold medals that include triumph at the Paris 2024 games.

Duplantis is eyed as arguably the greatest ever pole vaulter having won an incredible career tally of 22 medals in the sport.
Although he’s notably a winner on the track and field, he has had cause for celebration off it by announcing his engagement.
The 24-year-old successfully popped the question to his long-term girlfriend and Swedish model Inglander.
In a video shot with Vogue Scandinavia, Duplantis invited her onto a beach in East Hampton, New York as the sun began to set.
He got down onto one knee and pulled out a box with an engagement ring, with Inglander jokingly asking: “Wait, is this a joke?”
However, she eventually said yes and the happy couple cued their celebrations on the golden sand.
Vogue Scandinavia revealed that Duplantis invited them to help plan and shoot the surprise proposal that Inglander originally thought was just a photo shoot.
“This is way more nerve-wracking [than competing],” he told them beforehand, with his nerves clear to see in the video.
Speaking on starting his plans, he added: “On the way home actually, on the flight.
“The second after the Olympics was done, I was ready to do it.”

Duplantis achieved new heights in the pole vault at the summer’s Olympic games to retain his gold from Tokyo 2020.
Although he won with a 6.00m jump, he then cleared 6.10m to break the Olympic record that Thiago Braz of Brazil set eight years prior.
His third and final attempt saw him jump 6.25m to set a new world record and surpass his previous best by just one metre.
Duplantis’ success made him the first male pole vaulter to win back-to-back gold medals at the Olympics since Bob Richards did for America in 1952 and 1956.
He also won at the World Indoor Championships and European Championships this year, with his engagement surely the icing on the cake.
