  • Maroons vs URA – Luzira
  • Vipers SC vs KCCA – Kitende 7pm

Abdallah Mubiru has played down talk of rivalry between Vipers and KCCA ahead of the two sides’ showdown at St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende on Saturday.

The two sides have dominated the Premier League in the last decade with Villa and Express disrupting that run with a title each with the rest being won by either Vipers or KCCA.

Heading into the game, KCCA sit top of the standings with 17 points while Vipers are just below with a point less after seven matches.

“Vipers – KCCA isn’t close to rivalry like we have tried to put it out,” said Mubiru. “It is just a top of the table clash because there is no history attached to these teams to make it as a big,” he added.

“Apart from both teams having big following, there is no rivalry and we go there to compete and try to maintain our run.”

Vipers come into the game in very good form with four wins on the trot since John Ayala Luyinda, Mubiru’s former right-hand man joined the technical bench.

On the other hand, KCCA are unbeaten in seven league matches so far dropping points in draws at Bul and at home to UPDF and have conceded just once in that period.

Renewal of acquaintances

Besides Mubiru and Ayala facing off, there are players on either side who take on former pay masters but none headlines the clash than Allan Okello and Bright Anukani.

The two play makers literally exchanged clubs and have started the season in good form which adds more salt to the game.

Elsewhere, Isa Mubiru (KCCA) and Moses Waiswa (Vipers) also take on former pay masters while right back Gavin Kizito began his career with the Venoms Junior team before he crossed to Villa and so did Ashraf Mugume

Team News

There are no injuries reported from the Vipers camp with all players literally available for selection while KCCA will be without forwards Derrick Nsibambi, Emmanuel Amanya and skipper Julius Poloto plus defensive kingpin Peter Magambo.

Key Players

Okello seems to be enjoying himself again and will look to add to his tally of five goals so far.

Milton Karisa, Karim Watambala and Yunus Sentamu are the players that could decide the match in Vipers’ favour.

For the visitors, Anukani, Saidi Mayanja, Sadat Anaku and prodigy Shafik Nana Kwikiriza will be vital.
