Asaph Mwebaze’s return to Mbale Heroes has been treated with mixed emotions by fans with some supporting the decision to have him back while a section was furious seeing him return.

Mwebaze was at the club last season in the FUFA Big League but resigned midway citing administration gaps.

A sloppy start to life in the top division saw the Club fire Richard Malinga two weeks ago thus bringing back Mwebaze.

His first game in charge on return came on Wednesday against fellow new comers Lugazi FC at their base in Najjembe.

The game started on a good note for the visitors Mbale Heroes who took the lead, inside the opening ten minutes through Gideon Andrew Etou.

Paul Kaggwa’s cross met Cosai Wasswa who headed towards goal but goalkeeper Juma Mutebi saved the initial effort only for Etou to score from the rebound.

Lugazi levelled matters in the 35th minute through Derrick Mwanje with a well taken header.

The midfielder rose highest to node home from a short corner kick taken by Abdul Kalanzi. This is Lugazi’s first ever goal in the top flight league.

Despite efforts from either side, there were no goals scored in the second half and hence the game ended in a stalemate.

The result leaves Lugazi FC bottom of the table on 2 points while Mbale Heroes are 12th on 4 points.
