The 17-year-old sensation was always going to be a tough opponent for Aspinall and proved to be exactly that as he stormed to a more than comfortable victory.

Not only did The Nuke win 6-1, but he broke the tournament record average by averaging 110.43 on his way to victory.

Littler threw four 180s on his way to victory over Aspinall, who averaged 96.45 during the contest.

After Littler rounded off the victory, Aspinall jokingly threw his darts to the floor and stretched out his arms with a big smile on his face, suggesting that his defeat was inevitable with the teenager in such fine form.

The victory means that Littler has made it through to the final day of the Czech Darts Open and will face Damon Heta in the quarter-finals.

Reflecting on his win, Littler said: “Loads of talk of changing darts, I went back to what I know best and it worked well.

“I’m happy with these darts. I wasn’t playing well with the gold ones and it just goes to show I shouldn’t have changed them.

“If I can play like this again I’ll be very happy. I always have a good game against Damon [Heta].”

Littler has enjoyed a quite remarkable 12 months after be defied expectations to reach the final of the World Championship in January this year.

Since then he didn’t just earn a shock place in the Premier League, but went on to win it with an 11-7 victory over Luke Humphries at the O2 Arena in London.
