Cooper Kupp is set to make his highly-anticipated return for the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night.

The veteran wide receiver has not played since week 2 of the NFL season, when he sprained his ankle in a loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

He had made a promising start before being sidelined with injury, with 18 catches for 147 yards and a touchdown in the opening two games.

Upon returning, Kupp will hope to rediscover the kind of form that has seen him win plenty of plaudits on the football field.

Back in 2022, the 31-year-old became the first receiver ever with more than 2,000 receiving yards combined in the regular season and postseason, en route to Super Bowl glory.

In the world championship game, against the Cincinnati Bengals, he was named MVP.

Kupp was a forced to be reckoned with in the 2021 season, and has been impressive ever since. But it turns out football is not the only sport he excels at.

During a recent podcast appearance with Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, Kupp discussed his high school basketball career.

Back in 2022, a story about him coming up against NBA star Zach LaVine went viral, when footage of Kupp’s highlights was shared on social media.

The pair are both from the state of Washington and attended similarly sized high schools.

While they weren’t in the same conference, they met during the quarterfinals of the state playoffs.

Speaking to Stafford recently, Kupp revealed that his team dominated LaVine’s, won by 35 points, and that he held the NBA star to just four points.

“I played pretty good defense that game,” he explained.

“All I did was not let him shoot a 3-pointer, make him drive.”

LaVine was asked this week by the Chicago media about Kupp’s comments, and the video that has resurfaced.

He did not dispute the claims.

“They whooped our a**,” LaVine said.

“At the time, I had no idea who he was – this little white dude guarding me.

“Kupp is from the Tri-Cities. I think he’s a year older than me. So, he was a senior.

“They had the best team that year, and they ended up winning the state championship. We played them in the first round of state.”
