NEC FC moved top of the pile after edging SC Villa on Friday at MTN-Omondi.
The Soldier Boyz edged SC Villa 2-1 to go top of the League table.
Paul Mucureezi and substitute Cromwell Rwothomio scored a goal each while Hakim Kiwanuka got the consolation for Vipers SC.
NEC FC started the better side and had chances at goal but failed to take an early lead.
However, when SC Villa went through the early storm, they became dominant and should have gone ahead before the break but they were equally not clinical.
It was Mucureezi who broke the deadlock in the 57th minute when he volleyed home just outside the area.
Gideon Odongo’s free kick was cleared by SC Villa defenders but only fell to NEC FC and Mucureezi was well stationed to fire home at the near post.
The visitors were able to level matters through Kiwanuka after a well worked move with Patrick Kakande releasing the former.
Rwothomio who had replaced Emmanuel Ajo fired home the winner from close range in the 86th minute.
The result took NEC FC top of the log on 22 points while SC Villa remain 5th on 14 points.
