Nemostars secured a 3-1 victory against KCCA in the National Volleyball League at Sport-S Grounds, Nsambya.
Without issuing the second gear, Nemostars took the lead in the first set 25-22 before sealing the second as well 25-21.
KCCA pulled back one 25-21 as they managed to fire through Nemostars’ defence with diagonal hits.
Despite KCCA’s fight and resilience, Nemostars sealed the victory after clinching the fourth set 25-22, hence avoiding a decider.
After the game, Nemostars head coach Tom Amou described the game as a learning process since the campaign has just gotten underway.
“KCCA is a stubborn team because if you take them slightly, they can upset you. The game was good, but we can still improve since the league has started,” he stated.
“The first game normally provides momentum into the coming games. It’s a marathon, and each game is equally important. We lost the third set due to poor reception, but that can always be worked upon,” he added.
It was the third time the two sides were meeting following the UCU Open and Clubs Championship, but Coach Amou admitted that KCCA has greatly improved.
“I think they [KCCA] can still do better. One of their best attackers did not play the game, and I think they were not balanced enough, but if he returns, they can make a formidable side,” he admitted.
“I am happy for them because whenever teams improve, then the league grows at large. At the end of the day, the competition stiffens as the game gets to the next level.”
