The Citizens head into the new weekend top of the table despite having dropped their first points of the season in last weekend’s dramatic 2-2 draw against Arsenal.
The four-time defending champions have won just one of their last three matches though having also been held to a draw by Inter Milan in the Champions League last week but returned to winning ways in the EFL Cup in midweek with a 2-1 win over Championship side Watford.
Man City are currently one point clear at the top of the Premier League table ahead of both Liverpool and Aston Villa, though only three points separate the top six sides heading into the weekend.

Newcastle’s near-perfect start to the new season came to an unexpected end last weekend with a surprise 3-1 defeat against Fulham despite having won four of their opening five matches in all competitions this season.
Eddie Howe’s side had dropped just two points in the opening four rounds of matches but fell to defeat in the capital last weekend, which leaves them in sixth place in the table, though are just three points off the league leaders and will go joint top with a win on Saturday, for a few hours at least.
The Magpies are two wins from two at home so far this season in all competitions and will back themselves to upset the odds on Saturday and succumb Manchester City to their first defeat of the season.
League fixtures between these two sides at St James’ Park have not been short of goals in recent seasons, with 22 goals scored in the last four games at 5.5 per game.
Newcastle have lost nine of their last 10 league games against Manchester City though, with Howe’s head-to-head record against Guardiola leaving a lot to be desired, currently trailing 14-1 from 16 managerial meetings.
