Watford have had yet another manager sacking, this time with Tom Cleverley out the door after becoming the third-longest serving head since owner Gino Pozzo’s takeover in 2012.
Despite being fancied for a tough season Cleverley helped steer Watford into 14th and his sacking resulted in strong reactions from ex-Watford star Troy Deeney and fans alike.

Diego Alonso has emerged as a potential replacement and is strong in the betting to takeover from Cleverley.
Alonso, 50-years-old, was last in charge of Panathinaikos but hasn’t been in a managerial role since 2024 with the Greek side.
The Uruguayan has had a varied career with stints as his national team as well as in Sevilla, Miami, Mexico and Uruguay.
However his stint with both Inter Miami and Sevilla were marred by a terrible run of form, in which the La Liga side specifically saw him in charge for just 14 games, only winning twice.
It could be his first managerial job in the UK in what could be a tough transition having not stayed with a team for longer than 25 games since Monterrey between 2018 and 2019.
