The New Orleans Saints will look to get their season back on track at home on Thursday night when they entertain the Denver Broncos.
After an incredible start to the campaign, Dennis Allen’s team have lost four in a row to fall to 2-4 and surrender ground to their rivals, while the Broncos are 3-3 after their 23-16 defeat to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
Denver are third in the AFC West as a result of that defeat, while the Saints sit third in the NFC South and Thursday’s game could be a nerve-wracking affair as both teams desperately try to record a victory.

Don’t expect fireworks at the Caesars Superdome
The Saints set the standard on offence during the first two weeks of the 2024 season, but things have subsequently started to unravel.
Allen’s team beat the Carolina Panthers 47-10 in Week 1 and the Dallas Cowboys 44-19 in Week 2, but they have not scored more than 27 points since then.
While Saints running back Alvin Kamara has scored six touchdowns in six weeks, wide receiver Chris Olave was forced off during Sunday’s 51-27 defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a concussion.
Olave’s absence will be huge for the Saints, and they have rookie fifth-round pick Spencer Rattler under centre.
Rattler struggled in the second half against the Bucs, and without his main target, that may continue this week.
Tampa destroyed the Saints’ secondary, but the Broncos do not stretch the field like the Bucs do. Denver have also been held scoreless in the first half in three of their six games, so expect a low-scoring affair this week.
New Orleans to tidy up on defence
New Orleans’ defeat to the Bucs was a wake-up call, but the scoreline got out of hand in the NFC South matchup.
The Saints scored all of their 27 points in the second quarter, the most by any team in a quarter this season. However, they were inconsistent defensively, making huge plays one minute, before then failing to complete the basics moments later.
Allen’s team needs to tidy up, but at least against the Broncos, they face a relatively average team.
Denver are not expected to compete for the playoffs in 2024, and with Bo Nix at quarterback, they face a rookie under immense pressure.
The Broncos’ running game has struggled at times, and Nix only really has Courtland Sutton to count on as a receiver. If the Saints can nullify Sutton, expect them to win this game.
