WWE icon Mick Foley has left fans concerned after sharing the news he was involved in an horrific looking car accident.

The 59-year old is revered as one of the finest performers of his generation and is a multi-time world champion from his days in the iconic wrestling promotion.

He is perhaps best known for the unrivalled levels of punishment he was prepared to inflict on not only others but also himself in the name of entertainment.

Having suffered broken bones, torn muscles, and having lost numerous teeth and even half an ear thanks to his incredible exploits between the ropes, it’s no surprise he’s known as The Hardcore Legend.

Stories of Foley’s wild escapades continue to stand the test of time, perhaps not least the 1998 Hell in a Cell match at King of the Ring that saw him battered, beaten and bruised by The Undertaker.

Foley was thrown from the top of the cell structure and crashed through a commentary table below, unfathomably continuing the match before being inadvertently sent hurtling through the same roof to the ring below – and a steel chair for added insult – after a panel in the roof gave way under his weight.

Even Logan Paul was left speechless as he listened to The Undertaker recall the match.

He took unbearable punishment before and after that and, even decades later, the former Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love still seems to be getting himself into sizable scrapes.

The legend had been planning to make a one-off comeback to the ring for a career finale ‘Deathmatch’ to coincide with his 60th birthday, but a concussion put paid to those plans.

This week, misfortune has found Foley once more after he was involved in what, from the state of his car, looks to have been a serious and nasty car accident.

Thankfully, the Hall of Fame star was well enough to pose for a photo by the wrecked vehicle, albeit looking slightly dazed and with emergency service vehicles visible in the background.

An unsarcastically short update accompanied the snap, indicating that Foley is at least in some strife, as he commented: “I have no idea how I am still walking around after this accident.

“I’m in the hospital now, and I’m sore from my knees to my neck, including a minor concussion.”

The news that the hugely popular grappler has sustained yet another concussion will no doubt be cause for enough concern in itself, and fans flooded the Facebook update with comments, well wishes and, in true Foley spirit, some gentle jokes, too.

One said in reference to his iconic theme music which begins, ironically, with the sound of a car crash: “You weren’t supposed to take your theme song literally champ, lol. Feel better Mick!

A second said: “Thats about how’d I expect Mick Foley to look after a car crash, [but] honestly kinda crazy how good he looks compared to the car. Thank God for that.”

A third fan wrote: “Dang Mick, did this go through the top of the cage to concrete floor? I glad you’re still here. Take care of yourself. Praying you have a speedy recovery.”

As well as being a three-time WWE Champion, Foley was the first ever Hardcore Champion in the company’s history.

He joined the organisation 1996 and wrestled across numerous spells until his final WWE match at Royal Rumble in 2012.
