The NFL on Prime Video coverage is slowly becoming a fan favorite.
On Saturday, the streaming giant aired its first-ever playoff game as the Baltimore Ravens bested the Pittsburgh Steelers 28-14 in a mouth-watering wild-card round match-up.
Not only was it Amazon Prime’s first experience of playoff football, it was also analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick’s first taste of the NFL postseason, either as a player or a pundit.
The former NFL quarterback famously holds the record for most passing yards and touchdowns without a playoff appearance in NFL history, and co-analyst Richard Sherman kindly reminded him of that stat during Prime’s pregame show.
“When you’ve been around playoff football… no offense, Fitz,” Sherman said as the Prime Video panel burst into laughter.
Fitz took the zinger well, jokingly replying, “Why are we still throwing shots?”
NFL fans caught wind of the stray and posted their reactions to X.
“May not have been in the playoffs much but Fitz was an expert in securing the bag and that at least counts for something,” one fan posted.
“It was just locker room banter—simple as that,” second added. “Fitz-magic gives as good as he gets, and regardless of his lack of playoff experience, he has a good career that made him a lot of money.
“Best crew in the NFL,” wrote a third.
Fitzpatrick played college football for the Harvard Crimson, where he was the school’s first quarterback to have over 1,000 rushing yards.
He was subsequently selected by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL Draft and went on to start at QB for nine different teams — the most in NFL history.
‘Fitzmagic’ suited up for the Rams, Bengals, Bills, Titans, Texans, Jets, Buccaneers, Dolphins and Commanders over a 17-year career, but never made the playoffs.
His closest chance came in 2015 with the Jets, but a tough 22-17 loss to AFC East rivals Buffalo kept the 10-6 Jets out of the postseason.
Sherman, on the other hand, has a wealth of NFL playoff experience.
The 36-year-old is widely regarded as one of the greatest cornerbacks in history, and part of the Seattle Seahawks‘ Legion of Boom secondary that dominated the 2010s.
Sherman was selected to the Pro Bowl five times and voted All-Pro five times. He also led the NFL in interceptions in 2013, the same season he helped Seattle win Super Bowl XLVIII against the Broncos.
Sherman played in two more Super Bowls during his career, but lost both — Super Bowl XLIX against the Patriots and Super Bowl LIV against the Chiefs, when he was a member of the 49ers.
Despite their contrasting standing in the game, Sherman and Fitzpatrick have developed a budding bromance on Amazon Prime, which recently resulted in them sharing an ice bath and Sherman storming off set.
The Prime crew consists of Charissa Thompson, alongside analysts Tony Gonzalez, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Andrew Whitworth, and Richard Sherman.
Taylor Rooks contributes with features, with Albert Breer sharing news and notes from around the league.
Legendary play-by-play announcer Al Michaels and analyst Kirk Herbstreit call the action from the booth, with Kaylee Hartung reporting from the sidelines.
They were all on hand to watch the Ravens beat the Steelers and punch their ticket to the divisional round where they will face Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills for a place in the AFC Championship game.
