Antione Griezmann swapped his match-worn shirt for a rare Pokemon card box after Atletico Madrid’s win against Getafe.
The Frenchman received two Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer boxes after jogging over to meet fans after Tuesday’s 5-0 win.
Griezmann is known for his interest in sports cards and collectables, often updating his X account with new pickups.
He is a lover of many sports such as American football and baseball.
The forward was one of many athletes to attend SuperBowl LIX to watch the Philadelphia Eagles dominate the Kansas City Chiefs.
Before his trip to America he was able to receive the latest expansion of Pokemon cards, released on January 17.
Unfortunately for other Pokemon collectors worldwide stock shortages and scalping means the pack is extremely hard to get.
Scalping refers to the practice of buying big quantities of an item with the intention of reselling it at a significantly inflated price.
The boxes given to the Atletico Madrid star are worth £50, but are being sold for double that.
This value could skyrocket depending on the cards that are pulled from the packets inside.
That is in contrast to the value of the match-worn shirt of Griezmann.
Another from that Getafe game is currently available to buy for around £1000.
On X fans have accused the person who gave Griezmann the boxes of reselling but the rumour remains unconfirmed.
One user said: “The guy who traded the cards for a mere shirt ended up losing a lot.”
Another person was in disbelief, posting, “No way this is real.”
Some said that it was ‘wholesome’ and ‘sweet’ but they remained the minority.
A fan even called the 33-year-old ‘greedy’ for taking all three boxes.
Last month shoppers were filmed getting into physical altercations over the cards proving how much of a hot item they are.
But Pokemon cards will not be the only thing on Griezmann’s mind as his side are embroiled in a tight title race.
Real Madrid lead La Liga on 50 points, one ahead of Diego Simeone’s side who are a sole point above Barcelona.
Griezmann is yet to win a Spanish title despite spending his whole senior career since 2009 in La Piel de Toro.
Atletico last lifted the trophy in 2021 but that was during the Frenchman’s brief three year tenure at Barcelona before his return.
With Kylian Mbappe in top form alongside Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be hard to overcome.
Barcelona also remain a top threat with Robert Lewandowski leading the league with 19 goals, Raphinha reaching unprecedented levels and 17-year-old Lamine Yamal continuing to impress.
