Norwich v Middlesbrough predictions

Middlesbrough make the long trip to East Anglia on Sunday afternoon as favourites for victory against Norwich, having ended their two-match losing streak with an impressive 1-0 win over automatic-promotion chasing Sheffield United on Wednesday night.

The victory also ended a run of six matches with just two wins, and manager Michael Carrick will be hoping his side can continue their climb up the table and push into the play-off positions with victory in Norfolk on Sunday.

The Teesside club currently sit eight in the table, only behind their opponents on Sunday on goal difference, and just two points shy of the top four.

Norwich, meanwhile, head into the weekend having drawn three of their last four matches, including each of their last two, both against teams, Stoke and Preston, in the bottom half of the table they would have expected to be beating.

Johannes Thorup’s side are unbeaten in each of their last six games though and, like Middlesbrough, will see Sunday’s game as a huge opportunity to get the better of and pull clear of a direct rival for those play-off places.

Middlesbrough have much the better record between the two sides in their recent meetings, with Carrick having won all four of his games against the Canaries since taking charge of Boro, and are unbeaten on their last three trips to Carrow Road.

Norwich’s recent run of draws could well continue this weekend with two very evenly matched sides going head to head in Norfolk, with a 1-1 scoreline looking the most likely.

Norwich v Middlesbrough betting tips

Borja Sainz leads the Championship goalscoring charts this season with nine goals in 13 games in all competitions this season, including six in his last six in the league following his goal at Deepdale to start his side’s comeback from 2-0 down on Wednesday night.

With the two teams tied on points just outside the top six, Norwich having drawn three of their last four and being unbeaten in six, and Boro ending a two match losing run with an unexpected victory over Sheffield United, a draw seems the most likely scoreline.

Boro are unbeaten in their last five against Norwich but have suffered from inconsistencies this season, but confidence will be high in camp after their Wednesday night vcitory.
