Michael Irvin isn’t mincing his words.

The NFL Hall of Famer has a strong opinion when it comes to projecting Heisman Trophy winner, and two-way phenom, Travis Hunter‘s position at the next level.

Spoiler alert, Irvin wants to see Hunter playing both sides of the ball.

On his show, Speak on FS1, Irvin was adamant about what Hunter should be telling NFL teams if they want to draft him.

“Three years from now (when his rookie contract expires), y’all will Shohei Ohtani my money to me (show a ton of money to me),” Irvin exclaimed.

“If I’m Travis Hunter, all jokes aside, I’m putting it out right now.

“If you’re not letting me play both ways, don’t draft me. I fully intend to play both ways in the National Football League…

“I’m not letting them dictate my story. I’m telling you, ‘No, I’m playing both ways.’”

Irvin referenced Ohtani, who signed a 10-year $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers last offseason, due to his hitting and pitching ability.

Ohtani is a two-way superstar in his sport, the likes of which Irvin believes Hunter can also be at the next level.

If Hunter’s NFL career is anything like his college career, then Irvin may have a point.

The All-Pro recorded 1,356 snaps on offense and defense in 12 games, which was 434 more than the next FBS player.

Hunter was a star on both sides of the ball for the Buffaloes[/caption]

He finished the season with 92 receptions for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball.

On defense, he allowed just 22 catches, while snagging four interceptions.

An all-world talent on both sides of the ball, the likes of which we have never seen before.

Of course it’s one thing to do it at the college level, but a whole different beast to do it professionally.

There haven’t been two-way stars in the NFL, it just isn’t feasible nor realistic.

Well, Irvin doesn’t believe that.

He wants to see Hunter playing both sides and thinks teams will try it.

The Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants currently hold the two top picks in the draft, while both look to be in the market for a quarterback.

After that, all bets are off, in terms of when Hunter can get drafted.

He’s projected to go in the top five, and if Irvin is to believed, and you can get two elite players for the price of one, he may just go first overall, quarterbacks be damned.
