Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury’s much-anticipated rematch will be scored by a fourth judge, using artificial intelligence.
Fury was handed the first defeat of his professional career by Usyk in May and will now get a second crack at the Ukrainian on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Usyk edged the inaugural encounter via split decision with the tight scorecards reading 115-112 to Usyk, 114-113 to Fury, and 114-113 to Usyk in the end.
Ahead of their second fight, Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh has announced an AI-powered judge will score the bout alongside the usual three ringside officials, as part of an experiment that will not impact the result of the fight.
Taking to X, the Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, wrote: “For the first time ever, an AI-powered judge will monitor the fight.
“Free from bias and human error brought to you by The Ring.
“This groundbreaking experiment, which won’t impact the official results, debuts during the biggest fight of the century, #Usyk2Fury, on December 21.”
The idea was welcomed by boxing fans, who have been subjected to several dodgy decisions over the years.
One fan wrote: “Now that is an incredible idea. Will be interesting to see it pan out.”
Another posted: “It would be awesome if this fixes the judging issue in combat sports.
“I’m sure it’s a couple of years out from being able to actually be used, but the concept is exciting.”
A third added: “This is revolutionary and hopefully it will clean up the scoring in boxing.”
Meanwhile, somebody else remarked: “Hopefully this works and everyone gets on board, boxing needs to sort the terrible decisions and this tool could make it clear to fighters what to expect from this kind of judging.”
Fury is hoping that the judges won’t be needed this time around.
‘The Gypsy King’ has promised a knockout and insists he is preparing to go into ‘destroy mode’.
“I’ve always been a bad man my whole life, and I’m still one today at nearly 40 years old, a few years off 40,” he said.
“I’m going to go in there with destroy mode.
“Last time, I went to box him, I was being cautious.
“Anybody can get caught as we have seen in a lot of these heavyweight fights.
“But this time I’m not going for a points decision. I’m going to knock that motherf***** out.”
