Denis Omedi has arrived in style to Rwanda’s football with a goal for his new club APR.
APR overcame rivals AS Kigali 2-0 during the semi-final of the 2025 Heroes cup at the Kigali Pele stadium on Tuesday, 28th January 2025.
Following a goal-less opening 45 minutes, Omedi lit up the match with a well struck penalty in the 58th minute under rainy conditions.
Substitute Ramadhan Niyibizi got the second goal with twenty minutes to play.
Victory means that Darko Novic’s coached entity qualifies to the final.
Another Ugandan Hakim Kiwanuka also made the debut at APR.
APR is also home to Uganda Cranes’ holding midfielder Tadeo Lwanga.
The final will now be played between APR and Allan Kateregga’s Police on 1st February 2025 (Heroes Day) at the Amahoro national stadium in Kigali city.
Police ejected Rayon Sports 3-1 in post-match penalties after normal time had ended 1-all.
