Onduparaka Football Club was painfully relegated from the top tier Uganda Premier League at the end of the 2022-2023 season.
Now two seasons of playing in the second division docket, the Catarpillars have energized their efforts for a bounce to the big boys’ cluster, the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Following an unsuccessful campaign in the previous 2023-2024 season, Onduparaka has put their act together for the 2024-2025 season.
After match day 9 of the current season, Onduparaka has fetched as many as 15 points from the possible 27 points having won four times, drawn thrice and lost twice.
Their latest duel at the dreaded Ababet Green Light Stadium in Arua has witnessed a 3-0 drubbing of Lira based Blacks Power.
Rashid Yakini, William Gama and super substitute Dominic Abonga were on target for Onduparaka.
Yakini opened the scoring business in the 29th minute for a 1-0 half time lead.
Gama’s goal arrived with 15 minutes to play and Abonga cemented the victory with an injury time goal.
Abonga had moments earlier replaced the ever green Samson Ceaser Okhuti, a club legend.
Onduparaka has now maintained their impressive home and lie 4th on the 15 team table standings having attained 15 points from 9 matches.
Meanwhile, Gaddafi Football Club returned to the summit of the table standing with a hard fought 1-0 win over Ntugasaza at the Ssaza ground in Mityana district.
A fifth minute header from former Vipers and Onduparaka defender Ahmed Amayo was the only goal on the evening.
The would be second from veteran forward Frank “Machette” Kalanda was disallowed by the referee.
Gaddafi has the same number of points as second placed Calvary, 17, and the same goal difference (5) though Calvary has conceded more goals and has played a game more.
Elsewhere; Buhimba United Saints defeated visiting Arua Hill 2-0 at the Kigaaya playground in Kikuube district.
A goal in either half from Martin Philip Opolot and Derrick Byabachwezi gave the home side maximum points.
Opolot scored the opener in the 35th before Byabachwezi’s coffin in Arua Hill’s coffin coming in the 76th minute.
This was Buhimba United Saints’ third victory in 8 matches where they have also collected three draws and two losses.

In the other matches played; Kiyinda Boys edged Kaaro Karungi 1-0 with Solomon Wafula scoring the lone goal at the Barthelem stadium.
Away in Bukedea district, MYDA registered their first win of the season 1-0 over Busoga United at the Kongunga primary school playground.
Allan Oyirwoth scored MYDA’s only goal on the evening for their first victory in 8 matches, as they remainrock bottom with 5 points, same as Busoga United.
Mbale based Kataka football club lost two games on their West Nile expedition.
First they fell to Paidha Black Angels 1-0 at the Bar Okoro stadium in Paidha before losing 1-2 to Calvary two days later in Yumbe.
Blacks Power who had a torrid time away at Onduparaka is third with 16 points.

The next round of games will present match day 10, commencing on 7th December until 19th December 2024.
Kigezi Home Boyz will play Kiyinda Boys at the Kigezi Homeboyz arena in Kabale on Saturday, 7th December 2024.
Five matches will then come on Sunday, 8th December 2024. Busoga United shall host Ntugasaze at Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe in Jinja city.
Booma takes on Buhimba United Saints at the Masindi stadium, Blacks Power entertains Paidha Black Angels at Akii Bua Memorial stadium in Lira.
In Mbale city, Kataka will face Onduparaka at the city stadium whilst Kaaro Karungi will entertain Calvary at the Kyamate stadium, Ntungamo.
On 19th December 2024, Arua Hill will face MYDA at Pece War Memorial stadium in Gulu city.
Three clubs will be promoted to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at the end of the 2024-2025 FUFA Big League season in May 2025.
