The streets of Philadelphia turned to chaos on Sunday night as Eagles fans celebrated their Super Bowl win.

Jalen Hurts led The Birds to their second world title with a 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans.

The quarterback put in an MVP performance, throwing for 221 yards and two touchdowns, as well as rushing for 72 yards and another TD, in a game that also saw Philly’s defense dominate Patrick Mahomes and co.

As Eagles players celebrated their big win with the Vince Lombardi Trophy at Caesars Superdome, fans back home wasted no time in taking to the streets.

Crowds gathered across Philadelphia, with fireworks sent into the skies as many dressed in green partied into the night.

Riot police were poised for disorder, with some fans seen clashing with law enforcement as crowd control barriers were kicked to the ground.

Others were caught on camera climbing on top of vehicles – including a trash truck – and some reportedly ripped down traffic signals.

Police estimated some 10,000 Eagles fans took to the streets following the Super Bowl win, with fires set in some areas of the city.

Law enforcement was spotted on foot, motorbikes and on horseback as they lined up in front of City Hall in an attempt to deter fans from bad behavior.

But they were outnumbered as many fans flocked to Broad Street, one of Philadelphia’s most famous areas, in what has become a title-winning tradition.

Celebrations could continue through the week, with the Eagles hinting a victory parade will be held on Friday.

A video, posted at 1:24am local time, teased a parade route from Broad Street through the city the team’s home stadium.

“Thought it was time to bring this one out again. See ya Friday,” the caption read.

City officials have not yet commented on parade details.

While there was chaos in Philadelphia on Sunday night, travelling Eagles fans also made their presence felt in New Orleans too.

Those inside the Superdome were loud throughout the game, as they watched their team dominate Kansas City’s offense.

Mahomes was sacked six times and threw two interceptions in the blowout, which was far more one-sided than the final score suggests.

In hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, the Eagles also stopped the Chiefs from securing a historic three-peat.

Speaking post-game, a humbled Mahomes admitted he will take ownership of the devastating loss.

“I threw two interceptions in their end, I mean, I threw a pick six, and I threw a pick that they returned to the five-yard line, and they scored immediately after,” the quarterback told reporters.

“So, you give the team 14 points, especially a really good football team, a Super Bowl football team, and not a lot of good things happen.

“That’s why I take ownership of this loss more than probably any loss in my entire career, because I put us in a bad spot there.

“Even though we put up some stats at the end of the game, those stats didn’t really matter because we kind of lost the momentum for this entire team, and so I have to be better at not turning over.”
