The Her World Her Rules initiative by FIBA is a global program aimed at increasing the participation of girls aged 6-15 in basketball and promoting gender equality.
The recent clinic spearheaded by Racheal Ainamasiko, the Women Commissioner of Basketball at FUBA, in Kakole – Rubanda focused on grassroots development, introducing basketball to the girls.
Even without a basketball, the different National Basketball League players and coaches handled the task by turning the dining hall of the host school (St. Agatha Girls’ School) into a makeshift court to help introduce the girls to basketball skills.
The fun-packed day ended with the young girls from different schools being gifted a few goodies. These included shoes, training kits, water bottles, basketballs, and reusable pads.
The best 5 participants won national team jerseys and the host school got a full basketball jersey set from Hoop Dreams, Uganda.
