Uganda Women marked their return to the University of Ghana Rugby Stadium with a convincing 48-00 victory over Côte d’Ivoire in the first round of the 2024 women’s Rugby Africa 7s tournament.
Maimuna Nassozi, Lydia Namabiro (2), Unity Namulala, Peace Lekuru (2), and Grace Auma scored seven of the eight tries for Uganda. The eighth was a penalty try awarded in the second half.
Tina Akello (2) and Maimuna Nassozi kicked only three of the conversions successfully.
Zambia beat Senegal in Pool C’s other match by 10-05 after sudden death in extra time.
