Uganda have qualified for the semifinals of the 2024 women’s Rugby Africa 7s but with a huge injury expense in their playmaker department. They beat an aggressively physical Tunisia side by 17-12 points in the second quarterfinal on Day Two.
Sandra Amoli Lona (ankle) and Tina Akello (arm) sustained injuries during the match, and are doubts for the rest of the tournament. This has left the now-significantly handicapped squad with ten players for two matches.
Uganda will face neighbours Kenya in the Cup Semifinal at 3.50 p.m. EAT (12.50 p.m. local time). Kenya beat hosts Ghana by 48-00 in the Cup Quarterfinal.
The winner of this match will qualify for the 2025 World Rugby 7s Challenger Series while the loser will have one more chance in the bronze medal match.
