Portsmouth v Leeds prediction
Leeds head into the weekend holding a three point lead atop to the Championship table and are strong favourites to return to the promised land of the Premier League this season after two seasons in the second tier.
Daniel Farke’s side’s 1-1 draw with West Brom last weekend brought an end to their five match winning streak, but the Yorkshire side still boast a 17 game unbeaten run in the league dating all the way back to November.
The Whites make the long trip down to the south coast on Sunday afternoon with a five point lead over third placed Burnley, and will be looking to keep hold of an eight game unbeaten run away from home in all competitions as they bid to take another small step towards promotion.
Portsmouth have been fighting at the other end of the table for much of the campaign in what is their first season back in the second tier since 2011-12, sat rock bottom of the league in December but have managed to turn their home form around to help climb up the Championship standings.
Three wins in their last four matches sees John Mousinho’s side start the weekend in 17th place, eight points clear of the relegation zone and with one of the better home records in the league, only losing one of their 11 games at Fratton Park since October, winning eight.
Two strong records collide as Portsmouth’s impressive home form comes up against Leeds’ long unbeaten run – a draw would see each of them continue but I feel that Leeds’ strength will shine through with promotion on the line for Farke’s men – I predict a hard fought 2-1 away win.
Portsmouth v Leeds betting tips
Leeds left back Junior Firpo has become a significant attacking threat for his side in recent weeks, with seven goal contributions in his last six games.
Leeds are unbeaten in their last 17 matches in the Championship, and while Portsmouth have won three of their last four, last weekend saw them become the first team in any competition to lose to Luton since before Christmas.
