He left Carrow Road in 2018 and joined Billericay Town. However, after a period away from the game, he returned with spells at Chelmsford and Welling United.

He later signed for Tonbridge Angels before earning a move to Maidstone United.

A Norwich club statement read: “Everyone at Norwich City is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former academy player Devonte Aransibia, aged 26.

“Devonte joined the club’s academy setup in 2013, progressing through the youth age groups before departing in 2019.

“After leaving Norwich, Devonte went on to represent several non-league clubs, most recently Maidstone United.

“Ahead of Tuesday’s evening Sky Bet Championship fixture against Preston North End at Carrow Road there will be a period of applause, whilst the club’s players and staff will wear black armbands.

“All at the club pass on our condolences to Devonte’s loved ones at this sad time.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up by his family and has already raised nearly £8,000.

Among the donors are Newcastle’s Jamal Lewis and Bournemouth’s Max Aarons, who both started their careers at Norwich.

A statement on the page read: “It is with heavy hearts that we come together to honour the life of Dev, a loving partner, devoted father, cherished son, and dear friend to so many.

“Dev was the embodiment of kindness and compassion, always ready with a warm smile.

“His infectious laughter and generous spirit brightened every room he entered, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Beyond his loving nature, Dev was a talented footballer whose passion and drive propelled him to great success on the pitch.”

Chair of Tonbridge Angels Sophie Purves, released her own statement on the club’s website, saying: “Everyone at Tonbridge Angels is utterly devastated by the tragic news of Devonte’s death.

“He was such a strong, talented footballer and a sensitive young man. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to have known and worked with him and he’ll never be forgotten.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Devonte’s family and friends at this dreadful time. We thank our club chaplain, Neil Durling, for all the support he is giving to everyone at the club. Rest in peace Devonte.”

Aransibia played a key role in Maidstone’s magical FA Cup run last season which included a stunning win at Premier League-chasing Ipswich.

However, he left the Kent club midway through the campaign, joining Braintree before making a swift return to Tonbridge.

He kicked off this season playing for Chesham but could only manage two appearances for the club.
