Rory McIlroy was all smiles after ticking a win at Pebble Beach off his bucket list.
The 35-year-old shot a six-under 66 on Sunday to take his 27th PGA Tour victory and first on the iconic California course.

Shane Lowry was McIlroy’s main challenger as he refused to lie down on the final day, eventually finishing two shots behind on 19-under at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Both of the European golfers hit a hole-in-one during their first rounds
Lowry’s ace came on the seventh, while McIlroy found the bucket off the tee on the 15th.
The ball is a piece of golfing history and its fate was revealed in behind-the-scenes footage released by The PGA.
Four-time Major winner McIlroy was mic’d up following his final round and his celebrations were captured after winning the $3.6million prize.
A hilarious moment shows him hand his phone to an executive of AT&T – the company who sponsor the event – and tell him ‘not to check the carrier.’
McIlroy then signs autographs after his press conference and was asked if he kept the ball from his hole-in-one.
“No I didn’t. I gave it away,” he replied.
“That’s a pretty lucky kid,” insisted the fan.
“Yeah. The trophies I keep,” added McIlroy. “And the flags from the 18th greens I keep. They’re important to me.”

McIlroy had just enough time for a quick call to wife Erica Stoll and their daughter Poppy Kennedy during bathtime before heading for a final toast.
“This was a great peak behind the curtains. More of this,” replied one fan to the clip.
“Wow. Some of the best golf content I’ve seen in a while. Keep this coming you guys,” added another.
McIlroy addressed his lack of a Masters victory on the legendary greens of Augusta after the win.
It is the one Major standing between him and a clean sweep.
“Some people would argue that the golf courses I have won on are not up to a Pebble Beach or obviously an Augusta or whatever,” McIlroy joked.
“But to win at one of the cathedrals of golf is really really cool. I knew today was gonna be tough, it was gonna be exciting, there were so many guys around the lead.
“And I guess I had to… with it being Pebble Beach I had to put it to the back of my mind and just go out there and try to shoot a score, which I was able to.
“But yeah really cool – to have that walk up 18 to take it all in was really cool.”
McIlroy will be delighted to hit form early as he looks to finally end his wait for a fifth Major.
The world No.3 has not lifted one of the big four since 2014 – finishing an agonizing second at The Masters in 2022.
His next chance will come in April, with plenty of time to build momentum as the season gets into full swing after a winter break.
