QPR v Blackburn prediction
QPR will be looking to get back to winning ways tonight after their long league run of just one defeat in 13 matches, which saw them climb off the foot of the Championship table and into play-off contention, came to an end with back-to-back defeats in their last two games.
Defeats against Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall saw Marti Cifuentes’ side’s four match win streak come to an end, with their London derby defeat at the Den last weekend leaving them 14th in the second tier standings, though only six points off the play-offs.
The Rs were winless in all competitions at home this season until December, but have since won five of their last six matches at Loftus Road, losing to Wednesday in their most recent game in West London that will leave them desperate to get back to winning ways tonight.
This evening sees them come up against strong play-off chasing Blackburn side who got back to winning ways on the weekend after winning only one of their previous nine league games.
John Eustace’s side’s 2-1 win over Preston saw them climb back into the play-off places where they now occupy fifth place, though are only three points ahead of 10th in a very tightly congested battle for the last two play-off spots, which one could argue consists of 12 teams.
Rovers do make the trip to the capital tonight though not having won any of their last four matches on the road in the league, but are expected to be fired up to create a four point gap between themselves and the chasing pack before the rest of the division get a chance to play this week.
Blackburn have won five of their last six matches against QPR, including scoring seven goals across their last two visits to Loftus Road.
Both teams will be very fired up for tonight’s fixture, with QPR’s strong home record of late combining with Blackburn’s high league position leading me to believe a 1-1 draw is the most likely result.
QPR v Blackburn betting tips
QPR have won five of their last six matches at home but that defeat did come in their most recent game on Loftus Road, which was followed up by defeat at Millwall on the weekend.
Blackburn have won only two of their last 10 in the league but one of those did come on the weekend against Preston in a Lancashire derby which may well have given them the confidence boost they need to get back on track in their hunt for the play-offs, leaving what I think will be an evenly matched game tonight.
No player on either team has scored as many goals Andreas Weimann this season, who bagged his eighth of the campaign against Bristol City 10 days ago, meaning he’s now scored each of Rovers’ last two goals away from home in all competitions.
