Real Madrid vs AC Milan predictions
These are the two most successful sides in the history of the Champions League.
Real Madrid’s status as kings of the continent is well established. They have won a remarkable 14 European Cups, double the amount of next-best AC Milan. There has never been a time when Madrid have not been at the top of the list of all-time triumphs.
Their last taste of glory came just a few months back, as Madrid put Borussia Dortmund to the sword at Wembley Stadium.
Milan, on the other hand, have not lifted the famous trophy since 2007. They are unlikely to end that drought this season.
Nothing can be ruled out entirely, of course. Their cross-city rivals Inter were runners-up in 2023, while few anticipated Dortmund’s run to the final last time out. This is a knockout competition and the teams that make the annual showpiece are not necessarily the strongest duo in Europe.
Still, it is fair to say Milan have more modest ambitions as we head into matchday four of the revamped tournament.
They kicked things off with a 3-1 home defeat by Liverpool, before being edged out by a goal to nil by Bayer Leverkusen.
Milan recovered to beat Club Brugge last time out, but the difficulty of Tuesday’s assignment means they could easily be sitting on three points at the midway point of the league phase.
The fixtures do get easier on paper thereafter, with Slovan Bratislava, Red Star Belgrade, Girona and Dinamo Zagreb due to provide the opposition in their final four fixtures. But Paulo Fonseca’s side should not take anything for granted.
The same goes for Madrid ahead of Milan’s visit to the Spanish capital. Carlo Ancelotti’s men had the weekend off after their scheduled meeting with Valencia was called off due to extreme flooding in that part of Spain.
The Blancos should be relatively fresh as a result, but their last outing at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu saw them crushed 4-0 by Barcelona. Needless to say, Milan would be delighted enough with a narrower victory than that.
Real Madrid vs AC Milan betting tips
Real Madrid return to action after an expected break when AC Milan head to the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid to win and over 2.5 goals
Real Madrid will be desperate to get back out there and right the wrongs of that demolition by Barcelona.
Of course, a win here would not make up for such a hefty loss to their arch-rivals in the biggest fixture in European football, but a strong showing is important so that the Barcelona defeat does not linger for too long.
Madrid lost 1-0 at Lille in one of the shocks of the Champions League season to date, but they have been strong at home.

They beat Stuttgart 3-1 first up, then came from two goals down to get the better of Borussia Dortmund 5-2 last time out.
Both those matches featured over 2.5 goals and we expect this one to follow suit, with Madrid keen to win big and AC Milan capable of punching the other way.

Real Madrid to score in both halves
There are genuine doubts over whether Real Madrid have the right balance in the team to win the biggest trophies this season.
At times the Blancos have lacked cohesion and fluency. That has not necessarily prevented previous Madrid teams going all the way in Europe, but right now they look a little top-heavy.
On the flip side, there will be times when Madrid’s phenomenal firepower in the final third simply blows opponents away, as they did in that 5-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund.
This will probably be a closer encounter than that, but AC Milan’s backline will be tested throughout the 90 minutes.
Madrid should be able to make the net ripple either side of the interval on Tuesday.

Kylian Mbappe to score any time
The addition of Mbappe to Real Madrid’s squad has given Ancelotti plenty to think about. Even a manager of his experience has not yet been able to find the right blend in the starting XI.
Mbappe struggled against Barcelona’s high defensive line last time out, but AC Milan will not push up quite as high.
For all that the France international has had a mixed start to life in Madrid, he has still scored eight goals in 14 appearances.
Only one of those strikes came in the Champions League, a tournament Mbappe is desperate to win for the first time.
The former Paris Saint-Germain star can get his name on the scoresheet when Milan come to town.
