Real Madrid are locked in a battle to win the La Liga title with Barcelona. There is little to choose between the two teams as the business end of the 2024/25 season approaches.
Madrid cannot afford to drop points at home to Valencia this weekend, but their opponents are fighting for survival and will not roll over. Which way will this one go?

Real Madrid vs Valencia predictions
Advantage Barcelona. Back-to-back victories over Osasuna and Girona over the last week have allowed Hansi Flick’s side to move three points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.
Atletico Madrid are now nine points off top spot, so the fight for the title in Spain looks set to become a two-horse race very soon, if it is not one already.
Barcelona looked to have lost their way in the winter, but a storming nine-match winning streak has made them the favourites once more.
Barca lead Madrid not only on points, but on goal difference (+54 vs +33), goals scored (82 vs 62), goals against (28 vs 29) and the all-important head-to-head record too.
A 4-0 demolition of their hosts at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in October means Barcelona would almost certainly retain the head-to-head advantage even if they were to lose the second Clasico of the campaign next month.
Yet Madrid are still fighting for the championship and no observer of the Spanish game would be surprised to see Carlo Ancelotti’s side get their hands on the trophy.
Barcelona have been in sublime form since the middle of January, whereas Madrid’s results have been more mixed. They have won three league games in a row, however, and the Blancos will draw confidence from the fact that this team often comes good at the business end of the season.
Of course, Madrid will need favours from others. Barca will end the season with a tricky trip to San Mames to face Athletic Bilbao, who suddenly have third place in their sights. They must also face Villarreal, another Champions League chaser, in May.
Madrid, for their part, must ensure they keep the heat on Barcelona. That means avoiding the dropping of points in eminently winnable games such as Saturday’s clash with Valencia.
There is also the Champions League to consider. Both teams are in the quarter-finals, with Madrid due to face Arsenal and Barcelona preparing to do battle with Borussia Dortmund.
Spanish football fans were quick to note the possibility of a Clasico final. But do not neglect the impact the Champions League could have on the La Liga title race, especially as this is the part of the season where fatigue usually starts to set in.

Real Madrid vs Valencia betting tips
Real Madrid are targeting three more points as Valencia get set to visit the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid -1.75 Asian handicap
At the beginning of the century Valencia were used to winning La Liga titles and UEFA Cups, and reaching Champions League finals. Now they are battling to simply avoid relegation to the second tier.
Their survival is far from a foregone conclusion. A four-point buffer above the bottom three affords them a little breathing space, but los Che are not out of the woods yet.

They have at least found some form of late, losing only one of their last eight matches. In the 2025 table Carlos Corberan’s team rank fifth.
Valencia have still taken only 23 percent of their points away from home, though, so Real Madrid should triumph here.
In fact, we like their chances of running out winners by a two-goal margin or more at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Both teams to score
Valencia lost 3-0 to Atletico Madrid in February, but that was the only time in their last 13 league outings that los Che failed to make the net bulge.
Twelve of those matches came under Corberan’s tutelage, which means the current Valencia boss has only seen his side draw a blank once.
That suggests Valencia will have some joy going forward on Saturday, even if they will struggle to come out on top overall.
Needless to say, Real Madrid pack a major punch in attack via the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham.
Barcelona are the only visiting team to have kept a clean sheet at the Bernabeu in any competition this term.

Kylian Mbappe to score any time
Mbappe is targeting glory in both La Liga and the Champions League in his debut season in the Spanish capital.
The France international will also have his eyes on the Trofeo Pichichi, the award given to the La Liga top scorer.
Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona leads the way at present, having beaten opposition goalkeepers 25 times.
Mbappe is three goals behind the Pole but he has the chance to close the gap on Saturday. Valencia will find it near-impossible to contain the 26-year-old if he is on song.
