Scottie Scheffler has responded to losing his Masters crown with an excellent run of form throughout the past month.

The three-time major winner was the reigning champion at Augusta National in April but finished fourth as Rory McIlroy won his first title.

McIlroy double-bogeyed the 13th hole before hitting a bogey on the 14th in the final round to keep the field wide open in a tense finish.

Scheffler could only muster par on all of his final four holes to finish eight-under and miss out on a third Masters title.

However, the American believed his performance was ‘something to build off of’, and he’s starred on the course ever since.

The 28-year-old finished tied for eighth at the RBC Heritage to collect $580,000, but then won The CJ Cup Byron Nelson tournament.

Scheffler earned $1,782,000 in prize money as a result, with another $3.42m following thanks to his first ever PGA Championship victory.

At the Charles Schwab Challenge, he banked a further $427,500 when he finished tied for fourth.

On Sunday, Scheffler won the Memorial Tournament to add an extra $4m and take his four-tournament prize fund to just over $9.6m.

Financial gains aside, he made history by joining Tiger Woods as the only two consecutive winners at the Memorial Tournament.

Woods won his first in 1999, second in 2000 and third in 2001, with 2009 and 2012 successes taking his total to a record five.

Scheffler finished just one stroke ahead of Collin Morikawa last year but beat Ben Griffin by four this time round.

“It’s pretty cool,” the world no.1 said after. “It’s always a hard week. It’s so challenging to play this tournament.

“Ben made things interesting down the stretch. Overall, it was a great week.”

Scheffler’s latest win has come less than two weeks before the start of the US Open.

He finished tied for second in 2022 and then third a year later, but ended up joint-41st in 2024 to miss out on the title once again.

However, with the recent form he has shown, Scheffler could very well be in contention to win the 125th US Open championship.

Austrian Sepp Straka pretty much summed things up.

“He loves competition, and he doesn’t like giving up shots,” Straka said.

“The guy’s relentless.”
