Unconfirmed reports indicate the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship will be postponed up to August 2025.
Whereas CAF is yet to issue a statement in regard to this development, there are reports that a decision has been taken to postpone the tournament up to August.
Several reasons are cited including the hosts Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda not being ready in terms of stadiums, training facilities and other amneties.
There have been efforts by all the three aforementioned countries to have the tournament played between 1st -28th February 2025, however it has always seemed that many things were behind schedule and could not be fixed in the remaining days.
According to a source that preferred anonymity, the decision was reached on Monday after the final inspections conducted last week.
“CAF opted to have the tournament postponed because the host nations are not ready,” he said.
The source however revealed that the draw event slated for Wednesday, 15th January in Nairobi, Kenya will go on.
