Road To BAL: City Oilers Fall To Urunani In Overtime

City Oilers suffered a 78-75 defeat to Urunai in overtime during a Road to Basketball Africa League encounter on Sunday evening.

City Oilers suffered the first loss of the campaign after beating Fox Sports (South Sudan) and Matero Magic (Zambia).

The Oilers opened a seven-point (20-13) lead against Urunani at the end of the opening period of the game.

In the second stanza, City Oilers even got better extending the lead to 15 points (41-26) as both sides went into the locker rooms.

Parrish Petty shot 5-of-9 beyond the arc as he collected 17 points in the first two periods to place the Oilers in the driving seat.

Despite Urunani’s strong fight in the third stanza, Andrew Tendo’s troops held on to a 10-point (60-50) lead at the end of the third period.

However, Urunani had full control of the fourth period 17-7 to level matters thus dragging the game to overtime.

City Oilers suffered a massive blow as their preferred centres Israel Oyoro Otobo and Maker Mer fouled out in the fourth quarter.

An 11-8 run for Urunani in overtime gave them the hard-fought victory hence leading Group B with three victories in as many games played.

Jean-Jacques Boissy led the scoring chart with 21 points and eight rebounds.

Christopher Crawford (13 points), Malick Genzahayo (12 points) and Nkosinathi Sandile (12 points) also contributed for Urunani in double digits.

Parrish Petty (26 points and 10 rebounds), Falando Jones (15 points and 10 rebounds) and Otobo (11 rebounds and 12 rebounds) managed to recorded double doubles for City Oilers.
