Roma vs Bologna predictions
Both teams have struggled domestically and in Europe this season.
Roma sit 12th in Serie A with just 13 points from 11 matches. In Europe, the Romans have five points from four matches in the Europa League and sit in 20th position in the newly revamped competition.
To add further salt to the wounds, city rivals Lazio sit top of the table.
Bologna isn’t having much success either. They sit 9th in Serie A on 15 points. They do have a game in hand after their Matchday 9 home fixture against Milan was called off due to adverse weather.
In the far tougher Champions League table they sit in 31st position with just one point from four matches.
Furthermore, La Rossa hasn’t scored in the Champions League yet this season. They are the only team out of 36 in the expanded group not to have found the back of the net in the competition.
Moving onto the match and this looks like a must win for Roma manager Ivan Juric.
There is an international break after Sunday’s fixture and this could be the ideal time if the Romans want to make another managerial change at the Stadio Olimpico.
The problem is, Roma has already binned off former playing legend Daniele De Rossi this season. His replacement, Juric is only 11 matches into his reign. But with only four wins, he is already under extreme pressure.
Last Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Verona won’t have helped much. Especially given Roma had the better of the match but failed to put away their many chances (they had 14 to Verona’s 7).
Their wastefulness in front of goal was eventually punished when Abdou Harroui scored the winner for the hosts two minutes from time.
Further disappointment was to follow with a 1-1 draw away to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League on Thursday.
On this occasion Roma were a goal up from Gianluca Mancini with less than 15 minutes to play when they conceded a late equaliser after 77 minutes.
Bologna aren’t doing much better. But they can point to an improvement in form with back-to-back wins in their last two Serie A fixtures.
After a five-match skid without a win in all competitions, La Rossa won 2-0 away at Cagliari on Matchday 10. They then followed that up with a 1-0 home win over Leece on Matchday 11, giving them only their third Serie A win of the season.
They slipped in Europe again on Tuesday, this time losing 1-0 at home to Monaco.
The biggest problem that Vincenzo Italiano’s men have in Serie A is turning draws into wins – they may have only won three, but they have only lost once. They have six draws to their name this season.
In team news, Artem Dovbyk and Paulo Dybala should return to the starting eleven for Roma after starting the Europa League match on the bench. Mario Hermoso and Alexis Saelemaekers are both injured.
Bologna captain Riccardo Orsolini started on the bench in their Champions League defeat to Monaco. He should return to the starting XI in Rome. Orsolini is in good form with three goals in his last three Serie A matches (four in total this season).
Roma vs Bologna betting tips
Roma are in a bad place. They did manage a 1-0 win over Torino in their last outing at the Stadio Olimpico. But that win came in between a 5-1 thrashing away to Fiorentina and last weekend’s 3-2 loss to Verona.
Bologna looked to have turned the corner with two wins in two in Serie A. But just when things looked to be heading in the right direction, they again slipped up in Europe on Tuesday. Our Roma v Bologna betting tips can be found below:
Draw
We already know that Bologna are the Serie A draw specialists with six from their ten matches played this season. Roma aren’t too far behind, they have four from their eleven fixtures.
Furthermore, this is a match that Roma boss Ivan Juric can’t afford to lose. And with tension in the air, we expect his team to be cautious given their situation after recent results.
Free Bet Offers
After picking up six points from their last two matches, Bologna boss Vincenzo Italiano would probably gladly take a point away from the capital city.
The draw isn’t ideal for either team. But given both teams’ current predicaments, it looks the most likely outcome.

Under 2.5 goals
Nervy affairs can often lead to a lack of action and a lack of goals.
Neither team scores many. Roma has 12 in eleven Serie A matches, Bologna, the same amount in ten domestic league fixtures. And neither team concedes many either, Roma have let in 14, Bologna 11.
In Roma’s last two Serie A home matches there has only been two goals scored.
As for Bologna, there have been under 2.5 goals in seven of their last eight games in all competitions.
We really can’t see many goals in this match and there is no evidence to justify a bet on overs at 6/5.

Riccardo Orsolini to score anytime
There are some top quality players on show in this fixture who could break the deadlock and lift the gloom for either side.
For Roma, there is top scorer Artem Dovbyk and Paulo Dybala. While for Bologna there is the in-form Riccardo Orsolini.
Artem Dovbyk has four goals this season. He is 37/25 to score anytime. Paulo Dybala has two goals in nine in Serie A and is 43/20 to add to his tally against Bologna.
But the player in the best run of form is Riccardo Orsolini. He has three in his last three Serie A outings.
The Italy and Bologna wide man is also good odds at 16/5, making him worth a small wager to continue his good form.
