Ronnie O’Sullivan once forced Mark Allen to ‘surrender’ during a dominant performance at the Welsh Open.

The seven-time world champion‘s ‘professional display’ saw him wrap up victory in just 68 minutes back in 2010.

O’Sullivan and Allen met in the quarter-finals in Newport 15 years ago.

Despite falling 1-0 and 2-1 down, The Rocket went on to seal an emphatic 5-2 victory.

His performance even had Allen jokingly waving a white handkerchief as his opponent secured the win.

During the seventh frame, the Pistol placed the handkerchief on the end of his cue as O’Sullivan lined up the penultimate red.

He held the cue for the remainder of the frame as O’Sullivan cleared the reds and the yellow before shaking hands with Allen.

His antics were met with laughter and applause from the crowd, as well as a wry smile from the former world number one.

O’Sullivan had also twice been close to a maximum 147 break in back-to-back frames during the match.

In the fourth frame, O’Sullivan potted 11 reds and 11 blacks before finally missing.

The next frame saw him go even closer, though, clearing 15 reds and 15 blacks.

However, O’Sullivan then missed the green after potting the yellow as he moved onto the colours.

Speaking about his performance after the match, O’Sullivan admitted: “If you do that, things take care of themselves.”

As a result of the misses, his wait to become the first player to reach 10 career maximums in professional events went on.

O’Sullivan also missed out on an extra £22,000 in prize money, with his 10th 147 coming later that year at the World Open.

He has since gone on to reach 15 in his career, most recently achieving the feat at the 2018 English Open.

Meanwhile, his 2010 Welsh Open campaign would end in the semi-finals with a 6-4 defeat to eventual winner John Higgins.

The Wizard of Wishaw went on to beat Ali Carter 9-4 in the final for what was his 21st career ranking title.
