Like father, like son.

While a lot of the professional golfers competing in the tournament chose to partner with big name celebrities and athletes, McIlroy instead chose his father for the team event.
And in doing so, he was able to share a heartwarming moment between the two of them.
The younger McIlroy was stopped dead in his tracks to look up at a replay of his father’s tee shot on the big screen.
He couldn’t help but let out a big smile as he admired his father’s shot.
Unfortunately for the McIlroy duo, they were unable to make the cut, but that didn’t stop them from enjoying one another’s company and celebrating a special 65th birthday for the elder McIlroy.
“It’s absolutely incredible,” said Rory during an on-course interview.
“To stroll around the Old Course with my dad on his birthday – it’s always been nice,” McIlroy said.
“We’ve played the Dunhill many times together and it’s usually the week of his birthday.
“So we’ve done this a few times but to do it on his 65th, it’s a cool occasion and thankfully I’ve made a few birdies for his birthday.
“(My parents) have been my biggest supporters, my biggest fans.

“They’ve been absolutely amazing. They’ve been with me, obviously, every step of the way.”
“To be able to enjoy things like this with both of them this week, they would say it made all their hard work worthwhile but I can only do my best for them and try to make them proud, which I hope they are.
“It’s lovely to still be able to spend so much time with them.”
While the four-time major winner hasn’t been able to win a major event in over a decade, his last victory coming at the 2014 PGA Championship, McIlroy has been able to keep perspective.
And being able to spend a weekend with his father, to celebrate his 65th birthday on one of the most iconic golf courses in the world, surely helps put everything in perspective.
And for the younger McIlroy, that might just be enough for him.
After all, moments like these are priceless.
