Nothing will change Roy Keane’s mind about Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The England right back has long split opinion due to his elite attacking qualities, but frail defensive performances.

An extra spanner was thrown into the works last night when England took on Finland in Helsinki, and the Liverpool man was deployed in the unusual role of left-back.
Alexander-Arnold has previously been played in midfield for the Three Lions, but left-back was a novelty that former England striker Ian Wright was intrigued by.
“We’ll see tonight,” he said pre-match. “Obviously he’s on his wrong side, but when he does turn inside he will be on his right side and he can see everything.”
Keane was quick to interject, though, joking that it’s not unusual for Alexander-Arnold to look like he’s playing out of position.
“If you saw him the other night defending, it looked like he’d never played right-back before,” the Irishman brutally quipped.
The 26-year-old impressed in the match, scoring a wondrous free-kick as England won 3-1 and kept pace with Greece in their Nations League group.
Keane, though, wouldn’t back down on his point post-match.
“If you give time to Trent his decision making and quality of passing is fantastic, but honestly I still can’t believe how bad he is defensively, and against better teams of course he’ll be found out,” he said.
Commenting on the goal, he added: “Lovely goal. Great technique, you can see his standing foot, the technique is fantastic, the power behind it, there’s no chance for the goalkeeper.
“I’m usually harsh on goalkeepers but I’ll go easy on that one. The power and accuracy behind it was very difficult to stop.”
Keane wouldn’t budge on his criticismITV
Giving a different approach on Liverpool’s no.66, England manager Lee Carsley explained why he deployed him at left-back.
“I think Trent’s quality speaks for itself,” he said. “I don’t see it that I found a place for him, he more than earned his place.
“We do get bogged down in left back right back, where’s his position, but as long as he’s in effective positions he’s great to have on board.
“I think it’s important that we have players of that quality that can play to their strengths and we definitely do that with Trent.”
Alexander-Arnold has also been man-of-the-match in three of England’s four games as Lee Carsley’s interim spell.
