Ryan Garcia returns to the ring to face Rolly Romero in May as they headline Ring Magazine’s inaugural US ‘Fatal Fury’ card.

This is Garcia’s first fight since serving a one-year suspension with the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC).

He was banned from boxing after testing positive for the selective estrogen receptor modulator (SARM) clomifene in two separate drug tests taken around his April 2024 clash with Devin Haney.

‘King Ry’ won that bout, but the result was overturned to a no-contest, and after his ban, he’s now back to face Romero.

Meanwhile, on the same card, his rival Haney is fighting Jose Ramirez, while Teofimo Lopez is defending his WBO super lightweight title against Arnold Barboza Jr.

Garcia vs Romero: What has been said?

During a recent appearance on AK and Barak’s YouTube channel, Garcia was quizzed on how much he is making for his next outing.

“Teofimo was on with us and said something about a $30m (£23.1m), three-fight deal,” said Akin ‘AK’ Morales.

“That’s what he’s looking at. So, in this fight [Romero], is this fight going to be the most money you ever made or close to it? What is the money looking at?”

Garcia wouldn’t reveal the exact amount but agreed to play a game of higher or lower.

He indicated that he will bank more than $15m (£11.5m) before replying ‘around there’ for the $20m (£15.4m) bracket.
