Lindsey guided Crawley to victory in the League Two play-off final last season to seal a return to the third tier for the first time since 2015.

However, his departure means the Red Devils are managerless and now seeking a replacement after just nine games of the campaign.

Salford boss Robinson has emerged as a potential candidate for the vacancy at Broadfield Stadium.

The 44-year-old’s coaching career began at MK Dons when he was assistant to Paul Ince before taking the manager job himself in 2010.

He was the youngest manager in the English Football League at the time, aged just 29, and helped to seal their promotion to the Championship in 2015 by finishing second in league One.

Robinson departed the club in October 2016 and went on to join Charlton Athletic for a 16-month spell at The Valley.

Following his tenure at the Addicks, he became the head coach at Oxford United and guided them to back-to-back play-off finishes, but the U’s were unable to climb into the Championship.

He left the club in March 2023 and became assistant to Sam Allardyce at Leeds United in their bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Robinson was only in position at Elland Road for a brief spell and left after Leeds’ dropped to the Championship before taking the Salford job in January.

The Ammies’ new boss was sent off just 14 minutes into his first match for interfering with a throw-in against Forest Green Rovers.

Salford finished 20th in League Two last season and are currently 15th in the standings after six games.

Crawley on the other hand are 18th in League One and just a point above the relegation spots.

Despite securing promotion in the summer, the West Sussex outfit’s top three goalscorers from last season all left on free transfers.

Danilo Orsi netted 25 goals but is now at Burton Albion, Klaidi Lolos totalled 15 before joining Bolton Wanderers and Adam Campbell scored seven and is now at Hartlepool Town in the National League.

Corey Addai, Nick Tsaroulla and Will Wright also made notable exits as they joined Stockport County, Notts County and Swindon Town respectively.
