Saturday racing tips
AYR
1.50: Enfjaar & Phantom Flight – Exacta (1pt)
NEWBURY
1.30: Relief Rally 6/1 Each-way (2pts)
3.15: Powerful Glory 5/2 (1pt)
CHESTER
4.15: Copper Knight 8/1 Each-way (1pt)
Exacta
Enfjaar was somewhat disappointing at York, but now gets 3lb from Phantom Flight rather than running off the same weight.
The four-year-old has a huge chance of going forward again, especially back over 1m2f having won twice at the start of this season when well-weighted at Chelmsford and York in June and July.
He was then a neck second to Take Heart at Goodwood, also over 1m2f, having progressed nicely since being gelded.
Of course the five-year-old trained by George Scott is on fire at the moment, also since being gelded, beating Al Aasy in listed company at Newbury.
But was beaten upped in trip to 1m4f at Goodwood, so will be the biggest danger to Enfjaar.
Relief Rally
Went second of 14 behind Elite Status here over 6f in May and hasn’t been seen since.
She’s a tough filly to go close to that kind of a colt and now gets weight from some less consistent colts and geldings.
As an each-way play she’s a big price for trainer William Haggas under Tom Marquand.
The three-year-old won over course and distance in July 2023 beating 19 rivals by three lengths and over.
Yet to be seen over 5f since and that could see her return to winning ways after two close placings this season.
Powerful Glory
Symbol Of Strength wasn’t really considered for the Gimcrack at York last month.
But he proved better than his 80/1 price placing third just one length off the winner Cool Hoof Luke.
He then justified that form with a Group 3 win at Kempton earlier this month and now looks capable of progressing as he’s still somewhat unexposed.
Not as much as Powerful Glory though who is the big joint favourite with Shadow Of Light.
The latter of which placed just ahead of Symbol Of Strength having won his two races before.
Brian was tipped last time out but was narrowly beaten by the Keatley-owned and trained horse.
He was upped 5lb for that 3rd placed finish and that says a lot about his progression, having won by over four lengths at Newmarket the race before.
The colt won over course and distance in July comfortably and also has form behind Cool Hoof Luke, in June.
All their forms put them close despite the prices being different, but it’s the unexposed Powerful Glory who in just his second race is the favourite over the rest of these classy colts and can’t be underestimated.
Copper Knight
Gets the inside draw and has the course and distance form that makes even this ten-year-old the top choice.
The gelding was upped to an overall rating of 83 after his last win, also at Chester over course and distance in June, but is now back to the same mark he won at.
